I was delighted recently to have a chance to meet this beauty… New Zealand’s largest pohutukawa by trunk girth (a giant 12m around!).
Thought to be approximately 800 years old. Just imagine what she has seen..?!
Located in the grounds of the delightful Butler Point Whaling Museum, Hihi, Northland. The museum is open by appointment only. This fascinating place is run by friendly and passionate people and is well worth a visit!
